Did Joan of Arc train in Scotland? |

SADDELL ABBEY Joan of Arc, the Maiden of Lorraine (1412-1431) At the age of 13, the young shepherdess testified that she had experienced her first vision. Joan later reported that St Michael, St Catherine and St Margaret told her to drive out the English and bring the Dauphin to Reims for his Coronation. After years of one humiliating defeat after another, both the military and civil leadership of France were demoralized and discredited. When the Dauphin Charles granted Joan’s urgent request to be equipped for War and placed at the head of his army, his decision must have been based in large part on the knowledge that every orthodox and rational option had been tried and failed. Only a regime in the final straits of desperation would pay any heed to an illiterate shepherdess girl who claimed that voices from God were instructing her to take charge of her nation's army and lead it to victory. Legend states that Joan came to Scotland to be trained in the art of warfare in a remote stretch of Argyll. After further research one of the most prominent candidates for this fabled location is the Monk's Preceptory at Saddell on the tip of the Mull of Kintyre. Saddell appears to have functioned as a religious outpost for a period of over 300 years, approximately from 1163 to 1470. Its dissolution, nearly a century before the Scottish Reformation, is shrouded in some degree of mystery. The British Museum lists all the U.K. Cistercian houses in existence, with the dates of their foundation. These lists were written by the French in the 13th century, and were compiled in the Mother Abbey of Citeaux in France. In the lists there are references to "Saundell in Cantire", circa 1163 , which, when translated, gives us - Saddell in Kintyre. The Preceptory at Saddell was founded in 1163 by monks from Rushen Abbey on the Isle of Man, originally home to monks of the French Savignac order. In 1147 the Manx abbey came under Cistercian rule following the merging of the Savignac and Cistercian orders and was subsequently dedicated to St Mary. In the year 1133, the abbey of St. Mary at Rivaulx, North Yorkshire was founded by St Bernard of Clairvaux. In the same year there was an eclipse of the sun, on Wednesday the 2nd of August, that for some time converted day into night. In the year 1134, the abbey of St. Mary of Calder in Cumbria was founded. In the same year King Olave gave to Ivo, Abbot of Furness, a piece of his land in Man, to establish a monastery at a place called Rushen, and he gave to the churches of the Isle lands and privileges. He was devout and zealous in promoting divine service and, by these actions, hoped to make himself more acceptable to God. Rushen Abbey and France adopt the Cock as one of there main Christian symbols, the Cock's Crow, signals the time of sunrise, a time for mankind to awake, from the darkness as told in Mark 14:32 this man made imitation in the gardens of Gethsemane relates to Alectryon in Greek mythology....... One night, while "sleeping" with Aphrodite, Ares stationed Alectryon by the bedroom door to warn them about the coming of the sun (Helios); however, Alectryon fell asleep, and Helios walked in on the impassioned couple. Ares was so enraged that he turned Alectryon into a rooster, who must forever announce the approach of the sun in the morning. Ares is named after Aries the Ram, whom Jesus was considered to be, being born at the End of the period of Aries, the cock is God's messenger of the Dawn. Delving deeper into Alectrton's role, we study the Gaelic meaning of Alec-Alach which leeds to litter-tribe brood or offspring, and "try on" is a old English term to make advances in sexual nature, in order to protect his master. Alectryon kept the Door shut until the time was ready which relates us, to the sleeping Saint Peter, as told in the Gethsemane episode, bear in mind Peter, is the key-door holder........... Luke 24:45-47 tells us the Door will be opened on the third day, and "Our Minds will be opened to understand the Scriptures". The Manx Flag and Coat of Arms of Man, features the Crow. As a direct result of the early crusades a period of Grail fever was to sweep across western Europe. Within France, this was to persist and even incite other feudal monarchs to lay aside their disputed boundaries and combine their strength in further crusades. Europe was consumed by the grail cult, which led to suspicion and acrimonious reprisals, which in turn would drive the persistent Magdalene worshipers to contrive a system of symbols, illustrations and grail writings that evaded the gaze of their enemies. The monks at Saddell were pre-eminent in the devisal and design of combat strategy. Mediaeval Argyll was home to five different schools of carved stone engravers, at workshops at Iona, Saddell, Loch Awe (Kilmartin), Loch Sween (Kilmory) and Oronsay, producing expressive Celtic Crosses and graven slab Knight outlines. The Iona school dates from 1350. Recent excavations have unearthed 13 graven slabs at Saddell Abbey, some of which date around the time of Joan's life. The majority of slabs have the sword theme prominently engraved, they leave little doubt as to what was the main topic of vesper studies in this Abbey. Close relations between Scotland and France stretch back into history. Historical bloodlines, trade and cultural links intertwine the two nations. Generations have bartered French wine for fine Scottish wool and dressed leather skins. In time of great internal crisis in France, Scotland's shore was the preferred destination. A fleet of the fighting monks of the Knights Templar are said to have fled to Kintyre and the French Cluniac order landed on the Isle of May on the East coast of Scotland after Black Friday October 13, 1307. Other Knights Templar ships escaped to Portugal where there was sympathy for the Knights Templar cause. When Philip the King of France, in conjunction with the Pope, ordered the arrest of Knights Templar leader, de Molay and scores of other French Templars, they were charged with numerous heresies and tortured to extract false confessions of blasphemy. The confessions, despite having been obtained under duress, caused a scandal in Paris. After more bullying from Philip, Pope Clement then issued the bull Pastoralis Praeminentiae on November 22, 1307, which instructed all Christian monarchs in Europe to arrest all Templars and seize their assets. Scotland's King Robert the Bruce faced excommunication from Rome for approving a safe haven for the French Knights who had fought under the Rooster banner. The asylum seekers were to open up bitter and acrimonious wounds that lay deep in the French psyche. "I tell you truthfully, before the rooster crows you will disown me three times." Albert Mackey, 1898 From The History of Freemasonry and The Story Of The Scottish Templars writes...... After the execution of de Molay, Peter d'Aumont, the Provincial Grand Master of Auvergne, with two Commanders and five Knights, fled for safety and directed their course toward Scotland, concealing themselves during their journey under the disguise of Operative Masons. Having landed on the Scottish Island of Mull, they met the Grand Commander, George Harris and several other brethren, with whom they resolved to continue the order. D'Aumont was elected Grand Master in a Chapter held on St. John's Day, 1313. To protect themselves from all chance of discovery and persecution they adopted symbols taken from architecture and assumed the title of Freemasons. The Monymusk Reliquary is believed to have once contained some small bones of St. Columba. It 's design is characterised by a fusion of Pictish-Gaelic art and it was claimed, by some, to be a gift from the Saint himself. The Clan Dewar were custodians and carriers of what is Scotland's own version of the talismanic Ark of the Convent. Carried to give inspiration in battle and representing a symbol of any divine assistance that may be on offer. A message of hope and giving just cause for the valorous Scots in battle...... defending a Land Full of Promise. 1313+1 =1314 St. John's Day dawned, in a year that would be talked about and written of by generations to come the proud fervent sons of Jacob-Jacobites-Jocks wavering there inherited Judea Rampant Lion flag, a gift from God towards the "Sons of Light" whom carried the contemplation Golden colour in memory of Aaron's false Golden calf money God. The foot of Biblical Mount Sinai=Sin-I was the nativity birth location of the Ten Commandments. Show us a sign from God was the cry at Bannockburn! The Scot's appointment with destiny was part of the great plan, bearing in mind the first gift from the three wise men, was a monumental declaration that held a number of secondary underlying implanted secrets. Crucially the retrospective 1314 date, is the English alphabet gematria number that equals the Second Coming Of Christ! The Red blood of Judea's Lion symbolised in the Scots Royal Standard is also known as the Banner of the King of Scots. Gematria was used to convert numbers to words and holds the keys to enter the magic Golden Kingdom, alchemy's Golden door number = 777 as foretold in cabbalism of Saint John and Revelations, the third eye initiation helps to gain access to God's Holy Temple, only for "Those with eyes to see", the blind are consumed in the power and glory of the 666 Mark. Under an ominous Saint Andrews Cross divinely en-sketched in the skies above the heads of the Scots, a rejuvenated army fought and won against a much superior English force at the Battle of Bannockburn. It was a significant Scottish victory in the Wars of Scottish Independence. And was the decisive battle in the First War of Independence. The siege of Orleans (1428 – 1429) marked the turning point in the Hundred Years War; this was Joan of Arc’s first major military victory, starting the slow decline of the English fortunes with the help of thousands of Scottish Mercenary Soldiers. Joan hand selected Scottish bodyguards from the Stuart, Kennedy and Hay Clans, in 1429 Joan asked Hamish Power, (French name: Heuves Polnoir), a Scotsman living in Tours, France, to design her standard. and pennon. . The Scots wore the Fleur-de-Lys on their left breast to show their allegiance to France They fought with Joan of Arc and Rene d'Anjou at Orleans. René, after marriage, was heir to the Duchy of Lorraine. René's family in concert with the Dominican Friar Monks were heir-by-custom to Mary Magdalene's relics which included the Saint's Bones and famed skull which was to have a major influence on the budding artists of the Renaissance period. Their inspirational works lead to the term "The Masters" and through impression and key symbols educated many minds that were previously indoctrinated with religious propaganda. Rene's sister married King Charles VII of France and his daughter, Margaret was to marry King Henry VI of England. Queen Margaret of Anjou was to play a major part in The Wars of the Roses (1453–1487), a series of dynastic civil wars fought in England between supporters of the Houses of Lancastrian King Henry VI and Richard, Duke of York, head of the rival House of York. The first open fighting broke out in 1455 and resumed more violently in 1459. Henry was captured and Richard became Protector of England, but was then dissuaded from claiming the throne. Inspired by Henry's Queen, Margaret of Anjou, the Lancastrians resumed the conflict, and Richard was killed in battle at the end of 1460. His eldest son was proclaimed King Edward IV after winning a crushing victory at the Battle of Towton early in 1461. Richard Plantagenet, 3rd Duke of York (21 September 1411 – 30 December 1460) was a member of the English royal family who served in senior positions in France at the end of the Hundred Years' War, and in England during Henry VI's madness. His conflict with Henry VI was a leading factor in the political upheaval of mid-fifteenth-century England, and a major cause of the Wars of the Roses. Although he never became king, he was the father of Edward IV and Richard III. Richard Plantagenet, 3rd Duke of York is considered by many to be one of the most influential English nobles never to be crowned. He was born to Richard of Conisburgh, 3rd Earl of Cambridge and Anne de Mortimer. Anne was the senior heiress of Lionel of Antwerp, the second surviving son of Edward III. Lionel of Antwerp, Duke of Clarence (29 November 1338 – 7 October 1368) was so called because he was born at Antwerp, this arguably gave her and her family a superior claim to the throne over that of the House of Lancaster. Anne died giving birth to Richard. Rene's connection to grail trails has seen him even been alleged by Holy Blood and the Holy Grail authors to be the ninth Grand Master of the Priory of Sion. Joan went on to have several more victories leading to Charles VII’s coronation at Reims settling the disputed succession to the French throne. The question we hope to understand is how did a devout shepherdess come to lift up the sword of justice, what was the spark that managed to turn an apathetic and habituallly downtrodden French army into passionate disciples for Joan's cause. On 23rd May 1430 Joan was captured in Compiegne by French troops allied to Philip the Good, Duke of Burgundy, whose dynasty at the time claimed it was the legitimate Royal family of France. The renowned Duke of Burgundy had courted contempt several years earlier, when he had declined membership in the English Order of the Garter in 1422. This could have been considered an act of treason against the King of France, his feudal overlord. Instead in 1430 he created his own Order of the Golden Fleece, based on fanciful Odyssean impressions, inspired by Jason and the Argonauts, combined with elements of Arthurian Legend. The good Duke's troops were later to hand Joan over to the English. Joan had been foretold that her own capture would take place "before St. John's Day" the 24th of June....... Joan of Arc in her own words at Melun, April 16...."Easter week, I was standing near the moat at Melun, my voices told me that I would be taken prisoner before Saint John's Day, and that it must be so, and that I must not be frightened but accept it willingly, and God would help me." The French Cock began to crow for the third time. Her trial took place before an English backed Church Court in Rouen. Christian cultures celebrate the feast of St. John on the June 24. In the Northern hemisphere, the period around the June solstice is known as midsummer and Midsummer's Day is 24 June, about three days after the solstice itself. The term solstice can also be used in a wider sense, as the date (day) that such a passage happens. The solstices, together with the equinoxes, are connected with the seasons. In some languages they are considered to start or separate the seasons. . Many cultures celebrate various combinations of the winter and summer solstices, the equinoxes, and the midpoints between them, leading to various holidays arising around these events. Displaying and magnifying the greater importance attached to these dates Christians would bind their most venerable icons, with dates and symbols..... placing Jesus birthday on 25th of December and diametrically opposite Saint John's day, In prison Joan confessed......."If I should say that God had not sent me, I should damn myself. It is true that God has sent me." In the first half of the year 1431 one of the most significant and moving trials ever conducted in Human history was held. It culminated in the burning at the stake of the person known as Joan of Arc, the young peasant girl. Later the trial verdict would be reversed, completely exonerating her. She is now a French national heroine, she was beatified in 1909. On May 16th 1920 she was canonised as a Saint by Pope Benedict XV, her traditional feast day is May 30th. Joan of Arc is patron Saint of France, preceded by Mary Magdalene. Solomon's Songs of Songs celebrates romantic love and is seen as an example of how God loves us, the consistent authenticity of the divine message towards the beloved symbol of love is the lily. French freedom fighter Joan and friend of Jesus answered the call of Love and gave a ray of hope to the piscian poison period....... Song of Songs... Beloved Lover....2;1&2 I am a rose of Sharon a lily of the valleys. Like a Lily among thorns.... 8;6 Place me like a seal over your Heart, like a seal on your arm, for Love is as strong as Death. Rose windows may be seen in various forms throughout the Medieval period, they would be prominently placed above the altar, the traditional point of sacrifice and scene of the marriage ceremony so that maximum light might flood the most holy place in the cathedral or temple. The love implications within the symbolic flower of Love can be found in the mandala rose windows that in Buddhism represent the universe and within Christian opinion the circle's divine proportions identifing us with Mary Magdalene. God's sacred number is found in the ratio of the circumference of a circle to the diameter, known to us as Pi.This number can also be calculated to 3 digits by dividing the circumference by 22/7. The Golden number is code for Mary Magdelene's feast day, the 22nd of July. These stimulating cryptological Rose designs are a prevailing characteristic of Gothic architecture and may be seen in all the major Gothic Cathedrals of Northern Europe. Under the guide and directorship of the heavens, the Laws of time and attractive magnetic physics will end the celestial sphere cycle at the beginning. Beloved partner and consort to the French Cock rolling away the stone-egg at Easter to imply the start of the cold blooded piscian fish age, the 12th segment of the 13 segment Celtic zodiac calender. This time round, as we have had our share of Death, we are told that, because of Love, the first and 13th disciple will take her rightful place.........."for the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his Bride has made herself ready." After Joan's death, her influence over the literature, arts and manners of mankind has been such as to make the crisis of her earlier fortunes a point of worldwide interest and it might be asserted without exaggeration that the future of every nation was involved in the resolution of the struggle of the unconscious heroine of France.(Sir Edward S Creasy). "My banner was in the church at Reims when the King was anointed. I held it myself for a little. It had shared in the toil; it was JUST that it should share in the honour". Joan of Arc. During WWII, Charles De Gaulle, the leader of the Free French and French Resistance adopted the Lorraine Cross as their national emblem. Pierre-Plantard De St Clair, a grand master of the Priory of Sion and spokesman for the Priory of Sion, was tortured and interrogated by the Nazis for using the emblem. The Knights Templar carried the flag of the Lorraine Cross into the Holy Land on their crusades. The Priory of Sion also used the esoteric emblem to represent the Merovingian blood lines. Saddell, in the village of Carradale, Argyll, is the birth place of dairy farmer's son, Alexander Thom (1894-1985), widely considered the father of archaeoastronomy. Thom was a pioneer in mapping out many of the Celtic Kingdom's relics of megalithic man, including the Megalithic Lunar Observatory at Hill 'o Many Stanes at Mid Clyth, the Celtic cross Callanish stones on the Isle of Lewis and the egg shaped stone circles at Carnac in Brittany. Thom came to the complex conclusion, that most (if not all) of the 300 sites he measured used a fixed unit of measurement, known as the Megalithic yard (2.72 feet). He also concluded that many sites incorporated Pythagorean geometry into their lunar and solar measurements that enabled them to calculate the correlation between the tides and the moon. An accurate calendar linked to the sun could be put to good use to find the best time to make a boat trip, plant crops or have a baby. In warfare, strategic planning would hinge on grasping the importance of the calendar. An army able to predict the Moon's phases and the intricacies of the tides, would have a tactical advantage over their enemies. Night raids or unexpected assault with the aid of full moonlight or knowing where to stand when the glare of the sun would be at it's most advantageous, would be only some of the advantages. It was this level of arcane knowledge that would give Joan's army a new dimension in tactical options. The Monks at Saddell would have been one of the principal colleges of lunar and solar calendrical teachers, on their doorstep they had access to a significant number of ancient but working megalithic calculators used by generations of druids, monks, military tacticians, sailors, farmers and family planning advisers. Kintyre takes its name from Kin-descendants and offspring from ancestor(s) who came from Tyre. Saddell beach on the tip of Mull of Kintyre was to gain notoriety in the late 70’s as the spot where Paul and Linda McCartney sang their blockbusting hit of the same name. As part of arguably the greatest band of all time, Paul's final swan song with the Beatles, "Let it Be " was to sing and acknowledge Mother Mary's "Words of Wisdom" and harmonise deed and actions with fellow brethren, Bernard of Clairvaux.
